What's happening in and around Coalville?
A number of projects are currently underway which you'll start to notice around the town centre during the next 12 months. These include:
Flags over Coalville
Banners will be installed on lamp posts around Coalville town centre during May 2010. Local school children and representatives of local groups and businesses have helped to design the banners, which are being funded through Leicestershire County Council, local businesses and the Coalville Town Centre Partnership. Replacement of notice boards in the Town Centre
Funding has been obtained through Leicestershire County Council and Coalville Town Centre Partnership to remove the old notice boards around Coalville and replace them with more attractive boards which are able to hold more information securely.
Feasibility study of improvements to Marlborough Square
The District Council is currently investigating how Marlborough Square could best be improved as part of the implementation of the findings of the Prince's Foundation.
Feasibility study of improvements to Oliver's Crossing
Improvements to the area known as Oliver's Crossing at the end of the railway track from Snibston onto Belvoir Road are currently being investigated following on from advice by the Prince's Foundation.
Coalville Trails projects
A series of trail brochures which lead walkers and cyclists around Coalville and surrounds will be developed during 2010, including trails for Parks and Open Spaces, Local Art, and Coalville Heritage.
Proposed Major Developments
The following developments have been submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council for planning approval. For further information on developments, please follow the link to the Council’s web site.
Proposed new development for a mix of uses including A1 food store, other A1 and A5 retail space and residential apartments.
